in progress
The basement is becoming more and more functional for one who makes and fixes. I built another work bench from re-purposed lumber -with shelf below.

nail free 10'- 2x4's and such
I went looking for lumber to salvage and found some great work bench materials in 2 construction dumpsters in my old Cherokee area. I also found 2 nice sashes from an old window - obscure glass with a pattern I've never seen, as well as a nice 1/2 glass door.

The second of the 2 tax sale houses I bought this past summer had a crew start gutting it today. I sold it to a friend the other day as I wanted to pass on such a project and his people are tearing into it.

I found this Minnesota license plate in the junk yard in the back of a truck. It's a plate issued in 1962- but in The Land of 10,000 Lakes they would issue a metal tag to bolt over the year...so this one has a '64 tag...and get this-the plate is all galvanized. It seems it originally had a white reflective field color and red lettering. It's in MY collection now. Below is an image I found on The Web...if I could own "MY" plates AND "ME" plates I think I would feel complete.

...oh, and I figured out I could export then import my old blog posts to this one-then I actually figured out how to do it...and did!!!

I set a post to support the lean-to against the shed.  Next I built a box- from wood scrounged from a construction dumpster, to fit 3 window sashes I found in an alley, to use for a cold frame. I hope to start some veggies soon.

veggies around the corner
new post to left of temporary support

The kitchen sink base and new plumbing and cabinets are all in place and I can't imagine ever going back to the old set-up that was by the bathroom. It's so much more functional- some day the right half of the kitchen will happen, but no rush.

The sun eventually warmed things up enough for outdoor work and I did figure out how to add the list of blogs to my page.

an outdoor covered work space takes shape

I was able to get the lean-to roof purlins installed and then the salvaged red metal roofing on top. This will be a nice space for an outdoor work bench, under the protection of the roof, a place to set up a power miter saw and metal chop saw and a decent vise.

The truck got a sliding rear window the other day. I removed it from a truck in a junk yard, along with a roll up cargo cover for behind the seats and some spare relays - and a nice Chevy rally wheel with tire as a spare for the new(to me) 5x10 trailer.

Work has started up again on the CB450. I completed most of the wire connections in the headlight bucket a week or so ago and disassembled a carb .and put it's parts to soaking in parts cleaner.
Yesterday I finally had a warm day available for the detailed cleaning. I cleaned, washed and then dried the parts in the oven.

Also yesterday, I discovered a great source of free and clean wood chips, composted wood chips and  clean shredded leaves. I've been bringing wood chips home from the city to help alleviate some of the mud created by the wet weather with no grass or anything else growing yet. This new source or chips and organic matter is closer to me and is clean -no trash mixed in.

First/test post. I'm trying to set up a new blog-but it's not allowing me to add "gadgets"...I'll try a post with a photo and see what happens.

A cold day today. I worked on the lean-to roof framing yesterday for the covered work area attached to the shed. it needs the purlins then the metal roofing can go on.

I've built a work bench in the basement- all scrounged lumber, so I'm getting more organized and able to find things when I need them...less things on the floor...I'm claiming the space.
added on to an existing work bench and added lower shelf, etc.
