Three maple saplings I discovered in the fall mixed in with the Rose-of-Sharon (Hibiscus)bushes were transplanted today. One is several years old. I planted them towards the rear of the property where there was already one-maybe 8 years old? The valves on the rain catchment containers defrosted so I could close them today. As much as I want more time to catch cabin fever, I think spring is about to show it's self. I even rode the Hinkson creek trail today, after months off the bicycle. This bread thing: a carrot muffin recipe I modified. I left out the shredded carrots and all but 2 tablespoons sugar and used a cup of my pumpkin puree from last fall and also added oats, cornmeal, raisins, ginger, vanilla to the original ingredients called for. Whole wheat flour worked just fine too. It's just sweet enough to be more than bread but not need jam.
