Due to sequestration, my federal grant for the study to study the study done to determine if grasshopper powered generators can be used to charge cell phones when N. Korea takes out our grid-so we can tweet our screams to each other- well, the grant's been recalled. And... since I was really using said grant money to fund this blog, this will be the last post- at least until new funding can be arranged. Tonight, as the local community radio station plays their Grateful Dead show I'm reading from The Hotel New Hampshire- a story only John Irving could think up. I'll leave you with a quote from a page I just read- but first a little background. In the story, there's a bear named Susie in the 2nd hotel New Hampshire who's not really a bear but a gal in a real bear suit who growls and roams to protect the prostitutes that use the 2nd floor. Here's what Lilly said- Lilly, the youngest and little(dwarfish) child of the family that helps run the hotel. It's her brother speaking of a memory-p.263:  'What Lilly once said about her[Susie the bear] has stayed with me. "You can make fun of Susie because she's afraid to simply be a human being and have to deal-as she would say-with other human beings. But how many human beings feel that way and don't have the imagination to do anything about it? It may be stupid to go through life as a bear," Lilly would say," but you'll have to admit it takes imagination". And now I end this as I'm reminded of the quote on my wall my friend Lottie made/gave me years ago- a quote supposedly by Vincent Van Gogh: "Admire as much as you can, most people don't admire enough." Good night.
